1. Who operates the service
Apelles Editions is an early-stage project currently operated by an individual in Oregon, USA. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to ivanmarkchang@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide, such as your email address, authentication credentials handled by our authentication provider, display name, biography, links, account preferences, support messages, votes, and any artwork or submission information you later choose to provide. Our hosting and security providers may automatically process IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, requested URLs, cookies, authentication tokens, and diagnostic or security logs.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; provide profiles, challenges, submissions, and voting; communicate with you; prevent abuse and vote manipulation; diagnose and improve the service; enforce our rules; respond to requests; and comply with law. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
4. Service providers and disclosures
Vercel hosts and delivers the website. Supabase provides database, authentication, and planned file-storage services. These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments. Stripe may process identity, payment, transaction, fraud, and device information if payments are enabled later; Apelles Editions does not currently accept payments. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate misuse, or as part of a future business transfer with appropriate notice.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar local technologies that are necessary for authentication, account security, and basic operation. If optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before their use.
6. Retention and security
We retain account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward when needed for security, dispute resolution, backups, or legal obligations. We aim to delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed. We use service providers and safeguards intended to protect information, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and requests
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or ask questions about its use, by emailing ivanmarkchang@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when legally permitted or required. Depending on where you live and whether applicable legal thresholds are met, you may have additional rights, including rights to obtain a portable copy, opt out of certain uses, or appeal a denied request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
8. Public content and international processing
Profile and artwork information you choose to publish may be visible to anyone and may be shared outside the service. Our providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate.
9. Adults only
The service is intended only for people age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a minor has provided information so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the service develops. We will post the revised effective date and provide additional notice where required.
