Artists submit original artwork inspired by the weekly theme while the challenge is open.
Weekly challenges
How voting and results work.
Each challenge begins with a theme and an open call for artists. The community decides what rises—and the winning work receives lasting recognition beyond the final vote.
The challenge cycle
Collectors explore the entries and cast one vote for the artwork they want to recognize.
When the challenge closes, the three artworks with the most votes receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
All three medal-winning artworks are displayed prominently on the Apelles Editions front page.
The Gold artwork receives a special auction where collectors bid for a signed, one-of-one print of the card.
Awards
Five forms of recognition.
The most-voted artwork receives Gold, a front-page feature, and the signed one-of-one print auction.
The artwork with the second-highest vote total receives a permanent Silver medal.
The artwork with the third-highest vote total receives a permanent Bronze medal.
Any artist earning their first Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal also receives the Laurel Award, with the artist and artwork prominently featured.
The previous challenge’s Gold winner chooses one personal favorite from the current challenge, and the selected artist and artwork are prominently featured.
