In Milo's words

This started in a late-night call about the first time each of us visited New York. I remembered emerging from the subway and looking up before I knew which direction to walk. That instant of uncertainty felt less frightening than full of possibility.

I wanted the buildings to feel almost impossibly tall while the figure remains calm and curious. The city is overwhelming, but the warm streetlights and other people moving through the rain make it feel inhabited rather than hostile.

I built the architecture with perspective guides, painted the figure on a separate layer, and used controlled violet and blue light to lead the eye upward. Warm reflections keep the street connected to the person standing within it.
