In Mara's words
“The white croft is assembled from houses I passed throughout my childhood. I remember how they held their brightness beneath enormous skies, especially in the minutes after rain when the land seemed to produce its own light.”
I kept the house small because the weather is the true subject. The storm is still present on one side of the image while sunlight moves across the hill. Scotland often contains both at once; that tension is what makes the landscape feel alive to me.
I built the scene entirely in digital layers, beginning with broad color fields for the hill and sky. Sharper tablet-painted edges establish the croft, while translucent cloud brushes let the light shift without imitating physical paint.
